Shower for Conor and Theresa's Baby

Posted by Picasa

Well, the quilt TOP was finished for the shower, at least!

It was the biggest shower I've ever been to, over 100 (very nice) people! That baby should certainly be well-supplied, I have never seen such a mound of gifts!! I counted 4 identical baby baths!

Best wishes to Conor and Theresa, and the new little one arriving a few weeks from now!

Hannah's Quilt

Hannah, along with her mom, Marcy and brother, Isaac, and I had fun one Friday afternoon in April, picking out fabrics for the quilt she and I will make together. As you can see, Hannah has assembled a palette of bright, bold colors that will make a beautiful quilt!

Best of Show

Mom and I went to a quilt show at the Castle Museum (of History?) in Saginaw on Saturday. I think we would both agree that this quilt was our favorite, although there were many, MANY beautiful ones. The workmanship was exquisite, and I was surprised that there were so many appliqued quilts, a technique I have eschewed because of its difficulty. However, I think you'll agree that these quilts are stunning. Take a look at my web album:

Andrea's Quilt

Posted by Picasa

We started sewing today!! Andrea was amazing. The rotary cutting is a little much for her right now, but she is catching on to the sewing machine quickly, and she definitely has her own design ideas! I have never sewn "in tandem" before (one person doing the foot pedal and the other guiding the fabric) and we were great! Except for one broken needle and a few mismatching squares that had to be taken apart and put back together, (just minor upsets in the life of a quilter!) we just hummed right along!

It was fun, and has inspired me to start my own quilting back up again. I found the cutest fabric this week at JoAnn's, so watch for further posts on a quilt for Conor and Theresa's baby!
